Frederick BOWELL, son of Friday BOWELL (1867-c. 1948) and Minnie SHAW (1871-c. 1946), was born on 5 November 1899 in North Lopham, Norfolk. On 1 February 1915 Frederick enlisted in the Royal Navy, J. J34454, for a 12 year period. His deployments were:
Powerful: 1 Feb 1915 to 6 Jun 1915
Carysfort: 7 Jun 1915 to 5 May 1919
Victory I: 6 May 1919 to 19 Sep 1919
Columbine (Vampire): 20 Sep 1919 to 13 Jul 1921
Excellent: 14 Jul 1921 to 31 Jan 1923
Victory I: 1 Feb 1923 to 4 May 1923
Iron Duke: 5 May 1923 to 19 Oct 1925
Benbow: 20 Oct 1925 to 18 Nov 1925
Victory I: 19 Nov 1925 to 21 May 1926
Excellent: - 22 May 1926 to 3 Sep 1926
Excellent (Terror): 4 Sep 1926 to 4 Jan 1927
Egmont (Aphis): 5 Jan 1927 to 7 Feb 1927
He left the navy on 8 February 1927. He died circa 1974 - age 75 years.

1911 Census:	South Lopham, Norfolk : 21y 7m, Royal Navy Blue Jacket [a non-rated enlisted sailor, or less frequently a rated petty officer, was called a bluejacket] H.M.S Vampire, living with parents Friday (53y 9m, stone raiser at stone pit) and Minnie (49y 7m), and brothers Friday (22y 10m, unemployed, 1st class army reserve, Royal Field Artillery) and Edward (17y 4m, farm labourer).
